HARMS OF SMOKING

Smoking has always been a debate topic among people since cigarette was brought to Europe. Is it really harmful or just an innocent pleasure? Such questions have always confused men’s mind. However, with recent studies and experiences, we can say that it is evident that smoking is exactly harmful. It is specifically harmful for physical health, psychological health and economy the country.

Many people are contracted illnesses and die every year because of smoking. “The possibility of rising your probability of lung illnesses, heart crash, and risks even yet unidentified are very large.” It is the main reason of lung cancer, lip cancer and many other varieties of cancer. Moreover, it is proved by researches that 40% of men who are addicted to smoking die before they get retired. This rate is 18% among the non-smoker men. “It also brings about rotten teeth, and terrible breath. If you don’t smoke you can looked years younger as cigarettes cause lining of the skin.” Another point is that when a person smokes he gives more harm to other people called passive smokers around him than himself. For example, pregnant women who smoke may cause their babies to be born dead or disabled. “Lots of babies may have birth faults or become physically challenged even before birth. It almost give damage more than you since you have a filter and they don’t.” So physical harms of smoking can’t be disregarded or people go on being ill and dying forever.

In addition to harms of smoking to physical health, it causes many psychological health problems as well. Because of the psychological effects of the chemical materials which make up cigarette, addicted people may have a lot of justification to smoke. For example, they say they smoke when they are nervous, when they are upset, when they are bored, when they need focus on something and when they are angry. As you see, they almost smoke for everything. But when they smoke for such reasons, the effect of smoking occurs in the opposite way, that is, smoking causes anxiety, nervousness, lack of concentration and angriness. In conclusion, psychological harms of smoking are as dangerous as its harms to physical health of people.

Harms of smoking are not limited with health. It has a very bad effect on the economy of the country, too. For example, cigarette producers say we contribute to economy by producing and selling cigarettes and we give our taxes; so the country earns money in this way. However, if we look at the other side of medallion, money which the country spend to buy drugs for cancer and other medical materials cost more than money country earns from cigarettes. So smoking is not just a health problem, it is also an economic problem and a burden to the country in terms of medicine.

To sum up, smoking may be one of the worst things that can happen to a person. If you take seriously these problems caused by smoking, you must think again before buying cigarette and if the people smoking want to live a long and healthy life with their relatives and friends, if they don’t want to be burden to their countries by being lung cancer, I offer them stop smoking and starting a new life from now on.

I showed the paraphrased sentences in quotations ("). The original sentences are below.
